Ron and Susan Krausz used their passion of wine and family background in farming to turn the unique property perched on the top of Howell Mountain into the coveted vineyard and winery it has become today. Purchased in 1988 with a serious commitment to tending this precious gem, this unique and renowned land and winery now produces some of the finest wines in Napa Valley.
Taking their time seeking out the best of old world practices, along with the newest technology in all aspects of the vineyard and winery, they, along with prominent winemaker Sam Kaplan, produced their first vintage in 2006 and have cultivated and built a sought after wine club following who come back year after year, discovering perfection in every vintage.
Combining the carefully tended terroir with Sam’s winemaking expertise, the wines are crafted to be ready to drink upon release and sturdy enough to be cellared for 20, 30, 40 and even 50 years.
CREATING CAREFULLY DESIGNED PACKAGING TO SUPPORT A GROWING PREMIUM BRAND
To build a legacy such as Arkenstone, it requires a number of elements. Working with staff and suppliers they could count on year after year for a consistent product was one required element. After having worked with Saverglass for over 20 years and being their exclusive glass supplier, Arkenstone looked no further when they decided to create a custom bottle to support the elevation of their existing premiumization for their Estate wines.
They had been using the stunning ‘1855’ model but their custom design for the base and punt was not achievable with the narrow and smooth resting base of the 1855.
ELEVATE THE BRAND USING PACKAGING WITH SIMPLE AND MEANINGFUL DESIGN AND ENGRAVING.
Saverglass was able to achieve the custom base and punt design using the ‘Icon’ model, whilst keeping a similar silhouette to the 1855.
During the design phase, there was a lot of back and forth between the designer and the glass development department to validate the fineness of the lettering on the base engraving and the rendering of the "Arkenstone" emblem in the punt. It was the long-standing relationship of trust between Arkenstone and Saverglass that enabled the project to move forward and the bottle to be sampled.
With Saverglass’ expertise, the first sample was approved for production with no changes. The customer was very satisfied with the gem in the punt and the shape & sizing of the Arkenstone name embossed around the base.
