Victoria Distillers, located in Sidney, British Columbia, Canada has been producing award winning gins for over 10 years. In 2016, Victoria Distillers became the first distillery globally, to offer an indigo colored gin. Victoria Distillers wanted to launch Empress 1908 Indigo Gin in packaging that represented the regal influence of Queen Victoria, while showcasing the unique color of their gin.

The Context

The Saverglass designed OXYGEN bottle was the perfect shape and embodied the desired characteristics the team was seeking from their packaging.  A unique matte textured wrap around spiral label was applied near the shoulder and an almost fully wrapped matte textured label near the base of the bottle.  The brand was established using this simple and effective packaging design.
In less than a decade they have grown into an international company with multiple products, all utilizing the same packaging design.

The Challenge

With the company’s international success, they began to offer additional capacities such as the 375ml and 1L.  Eventually the demand to package their gin in an even larger format became too great to pass up.  So they approached Saverglass to produce a 1.75L OXYGEN bottle.
However, when the bottle design was scaled to this capacity, it was too tall for regulation height on the shelf. So the bottle could not be produced in its proprietary form.
The additional challenge was their signature wrap around labels.  The 750ml version required custom equipment and additional labor to adhere their labels to each bottle.  To keep their signature label design for this larger 1.75L capacity product offering, they would again require all new custom equipment and further additional labor.

The Solution

Victoria Distillers worked with Saverglass to develop a 1.75L model with a shape as true to the original Oxygen specifications as possible, one that would still be easily identified as the signature Victoria Distillers product, but one that would satisfy the supply chain requirements and fit on the retailer's shelf.
The challenge with the label was resolved using Saverglass' high quality decoration expertise.  Rather than purchasing custom labeling equipment and hiring new staff, Victoria Distillers worked with Saverglass to perfect a printed version of both their spiraled label, printed near the bottle's shoulders and the bottom label, printed near the base of the bottle.

The Result

With its exponential growth, Victoria Distillers now offers multiple flavors of gin, as well as a unique limited edition whiskey, all in Saverglass designed OXYGEN bottles in multiple capacities or ranges.
The solution for the 1.75L bottle label has enabled Victoria Distillers to reduce their expenses while eliminating an entire step in their packaging supply chain.  Saverglass was able to decorate the bottle to meet the customer expectations: The decoration matches their unique matte labels making it almost impossible to tell that they are actually screen printed.
